40 Nights in Lincoln: Surviving Poverty

40 Nights in Lincoln: Surviving Poverty will tell the life stories of local residents through still photos accompanied by short written essays, as well as video documentary. Robby Defrain will film and edit the video segments.

Today's economy makes everyday life activities extremely challenging for many Nebraskans. This project will harness the power of visual storytelling to show the obstacles and problems facing people in our community.

The ultimate goal of the project is to help others understand that the people in these stories live right here in Lincoln -- and that each person's struggles affect our community as a whole.

The project is a partnership of 40 Nights Photography and Lincoln Action Program (http://www.lincoln-action.org/). This is a volunteer, non-profit event, from start to finish.

There will be two primary events associated with this project:

- An opening premiere at the Bourbon Theater on O St. in Lincoln. Date TBA.
- A month-long exhibit at the Noyes Art Gallery, the Haymarket area. Exhibit opens May 7.
